Limited tests for the latter have shown pretty good results.
  • You’re never done: With consumers and algorithms constantly changing, staying on top of trends and current data is what you should do to keep your keyword list from ebbing.

Google Plus taking down the Facebook empire?

Do you know anyone personally who doesn’t have a facebook account? ….Niether do I. This statement goes to prove how overpowering this social networking site has become in our society.

Recently, Google, one of the world’s largest search engines, has made another attempt at a social media platform. Unveiled recently, Google Plus has become one of the newest forms of social media. Since the co-founder of Google took over as chief executive in April, Larry Page has made this platform the top priority.

Google Plus, although similar to facebook in ways of a profile picture and newsfeeds, claims it is different in the way of “friends” or contacts on the site. Facebook has a very open and almost provocative way of displaying friends’ information, pictures and posts on the site. Google Plus has been designed around having “circles” of friends or contacts as opposed to one large friendship list(as found on facebook). With these circles of friends, Google Plus has designed privacy settings which are easy to access and can be set around each circle.

Many will claim that facebook’s privacy settings are very difficult to find and set. Google Plus states that it is easy to set your privacy settings and has been designed to protect your privacy.

Rory Maher, an analyst with Hudson’s Square Research states that: “They’re going to have an uphill battle due to Facebook’s network effects.” Battling such a powerful social media platform will be very challenging. “The more users they (Facebook) get, the harder it gets for Google to steal those,” Maher says.

So the question raised then is can Google Plus take over the facebook phenomenon?
